Bahrain Steel Reclamation

Steel Reclamation

The Bahrain Steel Reclamation project is set to expand the storage yard of one of the largest steel producers in the region, located in the Khalifa Bin Salman Terminal Port Basin. The 37ha reclamation plot will primarily involve the creation of land from the seabed and the installation of 1.15km of rock revetment edge protection, in addition to footings for future dust-suppression barriers.

Prior to the tendering process, engineers now with MCC played an integral role in conducting site investigations and acquiring necessary permissions from the authorities. They understood the design and also prepared the tender documentation and completed the initial tender evaluation. Once the contract was awarded, John Barnes was appointed as the Client’s special advisor to the Project.
