As a registered member of the Chartered Institution of Arbitrators and with over 30 years of experience in the construction industry, a master’s degree in construction law, our partner John Barnes is a highly skilled and knowledgeable construction professional with expertise in Engineering, Contract Administration, Change and Claims Management, Dispute Resolution, Forensic Planning, Claims for Disruption and Prolongation, Expert Reports, Contract Risk Management and arbitrations. Additionally, John has extensive experience in preparing construction contracts, and advising clients on the procurement methods and forms of contract that may be most suitable for their projects.
John has been involved in the resolution of various claims and disputes, including Extension of Time, Prolongation, and Disruption claims on the Airport Core Projects in Hong Kong, claims in the Oil and Gas Sector in the Middle East, and resolution of technical construction claims in the Far East and the Middle East. His engineering, legal, commercial, and project planning experience is of great benefit to providing balanced and holistic solutions.
John brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the commercial and contractual area of construction, providing clients – whether they be on the Employer side, Consultant, Contractor or sub-contractor – with guidance and support through all stages of the construction process.
