Hidd Reclamation Phase 1

Reclamation and port development

The Hidd Reclamation Phase I was a crucial project inside the Khalifa Bin Salman Terminal Port Basin and provided an important development plot for a leading international food and beverage conglomerate Mondelez. The project was executed on a fast-track basis by the MOW Special Projects Office, and key team members, including John Barnes and other members of the current MCC team who played a vital role in its successful delivery.

John Barnes served as the Resident Engineer and Engineer’s Representative for the project and was responsible for contract administration, supervision, and technical review. Current MCC engineers designed most of the reclamation platform and revetment sections, while other members formed part of the Project Management Team and provided key head office support during the design and construction phases. These staff were also instrumental in securing approvals from the Supreme Council of Environment for the designs and construction stages on a fast-track basis.

The team also assisted MOW and the Contractor in obtaining permissions to the Government Borrow Area (GOBA) to the northeast coast of Khalifa Bin Salman Terminal Port Basin as the BA for the Project.
