IGB II (Investment Gateway Bahrain)

seafront development

The seafront development was led by Manara Developments, a prominent real estate development company based in Bahrain, and enjoys an ideal location near important logistics hubs such as the Khalifa Bin Salman Port and Bahrain International Airport. The second phase of the project, which is worth BD100m (US$265m) and spans an area of over 23m sq ft, will expand the total project size to 29m sq ft.

The project aligns with Bahrain’s strategy to increase the non-oil sector’s GDP contribution and attract foreign direct investments, with a particular emphasis on the industrial and manufacturing sectors. Investment Gateway is expected to offer 1,600 plots for sale upon completion, following strong interest in the first phase which launched in 2016.

John Barnes was appointed as Project Director for the 210ha dredging and reclamation project, which also included 6.1km of rock-armored edge protection structures. The project involved various aspects such as designing the reclamation platform, obtaining borrow area approvals, preparing tender documents, evaluating tenders, administering contracts, and supervising construction. As the client’s engineer, John played a vital role in ensuring the project was completed successfully and efficiently.
