The Albilad Real Estate development is a luxurious 50-hectare project situated in a prime location of Bahrain, consisting of a planned 2.2 million sq. m of development. This exclusive development, situated off the north coast near the central financial district, will provide residential, hotel, and school facilities, along with a beach park, marina, and various commercial, leisure and retail establishments. With the aim of accommodating a community of 40,000, the development will also boast several parks and public spaces.
John Barnes was the technical expert recruited to manage the Site Team for this prestigious reclamation project and review and develop the design, which utilised northern borrow areas for the reclamation site. The project involved the use of Trailer Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD) methods. As Principal Resident Engineer and supervisor of the project, John Barnes worked closely with other members of the MCC team, who played a significant role in the design and site supervision process.
